Stephen Colbert’s new “Super PAC” Americans for a Better Tomorrow, Tomorrow will not report donations until 2012.
The treasurer of the political action committee created by the Comedy Central host wrote a letter to the Federal Election Commission informing the agency they would be changing the filing frequency to semi-annual for 2011. That means the group wouldn’t have to report who donated to the group until January 2012.
Colbert immediately began swiping credit cards on an iPad outside of FEC headquarters after the agency gave him permission to form a “super PAC” late last month.
He’s continued his gag in emails to supporters of his “super PAC,” writing that the group will “shape the political debate by forcing candidates to focus on issues that matter to you – probably by attaching those issues to something shiny and dangling near the candidates’ face.”
