Jury In Blago Re-Trial Reaches Verdict

The jury in the corruption trial of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich is expected to announce its verdict early Monday afternoon in Chicago. From Andrew Greiner of NBC Chicago:

Jurors in the Rod Blagojevich corruption trial have signaled to Judge James Zagel that they have a verdict.

They’ve said they have come to a unanimous decision on 18 counts and are undecided on two other counts.

The verdict is expected to be announced around 2:00 EST.

In August Blagojevich was found guilty on one count of making false statements to the FBI, only one of the 24 charges brought against him. He was re-tried after the jury deadlocked on the rest of the charges.

The charges were related to accusations that Blagojevich had tried to sell Barack Obama’s vacant Senate seat in 2008. He pleaded not guilty to all 24 counts of wire fraud, racketeering, bribery, and attempted extortion.
