The White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer rejected Donald Trump’s offer to foot the bill for White House tours Tuesday, saying that the sequester itself simply needs to be resolved, Politico reported

“The Donald Trump option is not an option — what we have to do is deal with the sequester,” Pfeiffer said on CNN on Tuesday.

Donald Trump as well as Fox News’ Eric Bolling and Sean Hannity all offered to pay for a few White House tours, a program that was suspended as the Secret Service cut back under sequestration.

But Pfeiffer says individuals cannot fund the Secret Service. “It doesn’t work that way; we can’t have private individuals paying the Secret Service — so that’s not how it works,” Pfeiffer said. “This is about a very tough budget cut that the Secret Service has to take because of the sequester. It’s why we should have avoided the sequester to begin with.”
