Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who was nominated Wednesday by DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz to head the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, told reporters on a conference call Wednesday that he hopes to focus on civic engagement at the convention. Villaraigosa talked about bringing people together, increasing the influence of the grassroots, and getting people involved in the political process, saying that this is his main goal.
