Elections officials in Franklin County, Ohio on Tuesday barred members of the tea party-affiliated group True the Vote from participating in official election monitoring there.
The Columbus Dispatch reported that a number of candidates who originally sponsored the group’s ability to serve as poll monitors ended up withdrawing their backing. That led elections officials to bar the members from being present at the polls on Election Day.
In a statement, elections board spokesman Ben Pisctelli said: “The appointments were not properly filed and our voting location managers were instructed not to honor any appointment on behalf of the True the Vote group.”
