Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, praised Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) for his work in the Senate and said he looks forward to with him in the future in a statement on DeMint’s retirement Thursday.

While I am sad to see Jim leave the Senate, he leaves behind a very powerful legacy in that body. Pro-family champions Senators Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Pat Toomey, and Mike Lee and Senator-elect Ted Cruz all owe their seats in part to the support Jim gave them.

Perkins also notes that he hopes to work more with the Heritage Foundation, which DeMint will take over as president.

We are proud to partner with Heritage on numerous projects, including our annual Values Voter Summit and our recently completed national bus tour. With a good friend like Jim DeMint joining this great organization, I look forward to that partnership deepening even further.
