Republicans want Todd Akin to go away, but MSNBC apparently can’t get enough of the failed U.S. Senate candidate and crackpot reproductive theorist.
Figuring that its left-of-center audience could do for some mid-summer schadenfreude, MSNBC will welcome Akin back on the channel for a second time on Thursday.
Akin, busy promoting his defiant memoir, will make an afternoon appearance on “The Reid Report” hours after his bizarre interview with MSNBC’s Chuck Todd.
Great interview by @chucktodd of Todd Akin this morning on TDR. I’ll interview the ex congressman on @thereidreport at 2pm ET. @msnbc

Akin spent much of his interview with Todd feebly explaining his infamous “legitimate rape” comments in 2012, which doomed his Senate campaign.
Todd Aiken: The gift that keeps on giving!
Can’t get enough of Pat Boone’s tone-deaf twin
Epic trolling. Thankee MSNBC!
Seems like you need to ask, “is this guy even relevant?” And if the answer is no, then MSNBC is just playing partisan politics by keeping this guy around. The GOP wants him to go away, and liberals are thrilled that he stays in the news because he can really only damage conservative prospects. Of course, it’s probably great ratings, which is just another problem.
Todd Akin further cements his albatross-like reputation as Mr. Rapey Raperson. Goodie.
