A California state senator called on Fox News’ token liberal host Bob Beckel to resign on Saturday, after Beckel used a racial slur on air to refer to Chinese hackers.

“We should all be alarmed by the racist, xenophobic comments by Fox News host Bob Beckel,” Democrat Ted Lieu said in a statement, as quoted by the Los Angeles Times. “His comments have no place in America, and this is at least the second time he has used racial slurs. He must resign immediately.”

Beckel argued Thursday on Fox’s “The Five” that “Chinamen” presented the single biggest threat to national security. He then said there were “billions” of Chinese people who hack the U.S. and send over “cheap toys” containing lead that kill American children.

Lieu, who is running to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), also made reference an earlier comment Beckel made about having “Oriental”-looking eyes in his statement.

“I am one of those ‘Chinamen’ with ‘Oriental’ eyes that immigrated to America and majored in computer science,” he said, as quoted by the Los Angeles Times. “I also served on active duty in the United States Air Force and continue to serve my country in the Reserves. And today, as an American and as a California state senator, I call on Mr. Beckel to resign.”
