The primaries have just begun, but after Newt Gingrich’s upset in South Carolina on Saturday, it’s starting to look like the primary process could go on a while longer. On the Meet the Press roundtable, Republican strategist Mike Murphy predicted that it would take Mitt Romney all of February to get back on top and control his campaign’s message after being drawn down by talk of his tax returns this week. MSNBC host Joe Scarborough talked about third party candidates and a brokered convention. MSNBC’s Chuck Todd said that the longer the primary goes on, the more likely we are to see third party candidates enter the race.
