Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) said on Monday that he won’t respond to clerk Kim Davis’ recent motion asking the governor to release her from jail while she appeals the contempt of court ruling that landed her behind bars.
Beshear told CNN that it is a “matter between her and the courts.”
The emergency motion filed by Davis’ lawyers on Monday asks for an exemption from Beshear’s order that all clerks issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Her lawyers also filed an appeal of the contempt of court ruling on Sunday.
