The Senate Banking Committee voted 14-8 Thursday to approve Janet Yellen as chairman of the Federal Reserve.

Yellen still needs a vote in the full Senate before being confirmed as chief of the Federal Reserve, and may face opposition by senators uneasy with her economic policies.
