Santorum Campaign Plays Down Michigan Expectations

Santorum campaign communications director Hogan Gidley told CNN Monday morning that “Michigan is an important state, but it’s not the only state.”

New polling out of Michigan shows Mitt Romney still trailing Santorum, but closing the gap. “We’ll fight for every vote we can, of course. But it’s Romney’s home state,” Gidley added.

Romney senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom told MSNBC Monday morning that he expects Romney to win his home state, but ultimately it’s about collecting the necessary delegates to win the nomination.
