Russian, Polish Soccer Fans Clash

A fight broke out among Russian and Polish supporters on their way to the European championship soccer match between their teams. Russian fans waving national flags to celebrate Russia Day were marching across a central Warsaw bridge when the skirmish occurred. The police attempted to separate the crowd using water cannon and tear gas. Video footage showed people lying on the ground and AP journalists reported seeing several fans bleeding after the skirmish, with one of them seriously injured. Polish and Russian fans also hurled stones at each other near the stadium.
