Mitt Romney’s campaign shot back at President Obama’s assertion that Romney can’t be trusted to stand up to China on trade issues.
“President Obama is recycling false and debunked attacks because he can’t tell the people of Ohio about his record of fewer jobs, more debt, and lower incomes,” spokesman Ryan Williams said Monday. “President Obama’s failed stimulus bill didn’t meet his own standard for lowering unemployment and sent taxpayer money to foreign-owned companies, and even members of his own party have loudly condemned his inaction toward China. But it’s middle-class Americans who have paid the real price for President Obama’s weak, ineffective leadership.”
On the stump in Ohio, Obama said Romney “can’t stand up to China when all you’ve done is send them our jobs.” The two campaigns have been trading barbs over China because the Obama administration filed a new enforcement action with the World Trade Organization over Chinese subsidies of auto parts.
