President Barack Obama urged Washington Redskins star quarterback Robert Griffin III to do what he can to avoid another devastating injury when the two met Saturday at an NCAA Tournament game at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.
According to the Washington Times, the former Heisman Trophy winner and reigning NFL rookie of the year said that Obama spoke to him about “protecting myself.” Griffin tore his ACL in a January playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Griffin on Sunday retweeted a photo of the meeting, first posted on Twitter by a writer for the Redskins fan website TheHogs.net, and expressed appreciation for Obama’s “wise words.”
