Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) erroneously wrote in his book, Taking a Stand: Moving Beyond Partisan Politics to United America, that six Americans died in the Sept. 11, 2012 Benghazi attacks. The actual number of deaths was four, and his publisher now says it will correct the error in subsequent printings.

Paul wrote:

I believe judgment day for Benghazi is also at hand. When the secretary of state answers a question concerning the murders of six Americans, including an American ambassador, by saying, ‘What difference, at this point, does it make?’ I think that’s a pretty clear indication that it’s time for that person to go. It’s 3 a.m., Mrs. Clinton. The phone is ringing. The American people deserve to know why you never bothered to answer it.

Earlier in the book, the number of deaths is reported correctly.

Hatchette Book Group, which published Paul’s book, said the error will be corrected “in the next printing,” according to Buzzfeed.
