A new poll of Arizona shows something old and something new. First, businessman Herman Cain is leading the GOP primary there, which is on par with many of the state polling we’ve seen over the last few weeks in the Republican nomination process. But then there’s something new, or at least surprising.
“The survey indicates that Obama holds a 45-40% margin over Romney in a hypothetical general election showdown, with Obama holding 44-38% advantage over Perry and a 45-38% advantage over Cain. All of Obama’s margins are within the poll’s sampling error.”
In the last ten elections, Arizona has gone for the Democratic nominee in the Presidential race exactly one time: in President Bill Clinton’s landslide victory over former Sen. Bob Dole (R-KS) in 1996.
