Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) will meet President Obama on the tarmac when he arrives in Dallas on Wednesday, according to Politico.

Perry initially declined to meet Obama when he arrived in Texas and instead asked for a private meeting about the crisis at the border.

“I appreciate the offer to greet you at Austin-Bergstrom Airport, but a quick handshake on the tarmac will not allow for a thoughtful discussion regarding the humanitarian and national security crises enveloping the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas,” Perry wrote to the President. “I would instead offer to meet with you at any time during your visit to Texas for a substantive meeting to discuss this critical issue.”

Obama then agreed to meet with Perry privately and invited him to a roundtable with faith leaders and local lawmakers in Dallas.

Obama will appear at several fundraisers in Dallas and Austin while he is in Texas.
