In response to an audience question, Rick Perry said he has no problem with drug testing recipients of government aid, presumably anything from welfare to food stamps to unemployment insurance. Via ThinkProgress:
I don’t have a problem with before you get any dollars from the federal government that you’re drug tested… I don’t have a problem in the world with that.
Not only is this costly and impractical, but it is also a violation of the Constitutional protection against suspicion-less searches. Last month, Gingrich also endorsed such a policy.
