New York Comptroller Tom DiNapoli is suing Qualcomm to gain information on its political contributions to anonymous money groups, setting up a new test of disclosure in the wake of the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision. DiNapoli’s case is built around the state’s pension investments in the company, which he argues gives the state a strong interest in knowing whether Qualcomm’s political activity could pose a risk for shareholders. Qualcomm’s founder and some of its top executives are major Democratic donors. DiNapoli is a Democrat.
