A science teacher in Newtown, Connecticut resigned at the end of the school year after he allegedly brought an armed gun to school, ABC affiliate WCVB reported Sunday.
Jason Adams was charged in April after he brought a loaded .45-caliber pistol to the middle school. The school’s security personnel detained him until police arrived.
Adams, who has a valid pistol permit, was put on administrative leave while the school conducted its investigation. Connecticut state law prevents firearms from being on school grounds.
The affiliate reported that the middle school is located less than two miles away from Sandy Hook Elementary School, where a mass shooting there left 26 people, including 20 children, dead.
