The National Education Association, along with other union groups, released an ad on Thursday going after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) over the looming automatic spending cuts.

“How will you be remembered, Sen. McConnell?” the ad’s voiceover said. “For serving honorably? Or for inflicting pain on millions, just to protect tax loopholes for corporations and the richest few? By refusing to budge, you and Republican leaders have guaranteed reckless, automatic cuts that will devastate our troops, first responders, students, educators, families, seniors, and could destroy 1 million American jobs.”

The ad, paid for by the NEA; American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; American Federation of Teachers; and Service Employees International Union is a six-figure TV buy, according to a release. The ad will also run online. It will run in Washington, D.C.; Cleveland; Los Angeles; Sacramento, Calif.; Orlando, Fla.; Des Moines, Iowa; and Traverse City, Mich.
