The West Virginia Supreme Court voted unanimously Friday to strip Mingo County, W.Va. Prosecutor Michael Sparks of his law license, Reuters reported.

The 5-0 decision came a day after Sparks resigned from his post as he faced a federal investigation for allegedly covering up a local Sheriff Eugene Crum’s prescription drug use. Crum was killed in April in an unrelated shooting.

Mingo County Circuit Judge Michael Thornsbury plead guilty earlier this month to conspiracy charges for his involvement in the cover-up.
