Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Tuesday evening said that he had asked the Senate Intelligence Committee to look into reports that Susan Rice asked for the names of Trump associates to be unmasked in intelligence reports.

“I have asked the Intelligence Committee, Sen. Burr, Sen. Warner, to conduct a bipartisan investigation of this whole episode,” McConnell told Fox News when asked about Rice. “They will conduct it. Hopefully at the end we will find out what happened and they will issue a report, I hope, on a bipartisan basis.”

“Anything related to Susan Rice or any of these other suggestions will be handled by the Intelligence Committee, and we look forward to receiving their report about what happened,” he added.

Conservatives have pounced on a report that Rice, the national security adviser under President Barack Obama, asked for the names of associates of President Donald Trump to be unmasked in intelligence reports. However, Rice has denied asking for names to be unmasked for political reasons, and experts say that she would be within her rights to request that names of U.S. citizens be unmasked.
