Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) said Thursday that she received a phone call from Hillary Clinton after endorsing a super PAC aimed at pushing the former secretary of state to enter the 2016 presidential race, but the Missouri Democrat didn’t offer any specifics from the conversation.
“She did call me after this all happened the other day and we had a great conversation,” McCaskill recalled on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “I’m not going to talk about what we said. But I think she’s got a big decision to make and I think she’s in the process of making it. And I think the more people that are out there urging her to run, i think it will help grow the grassroots effort. And we all know, we saw in 2008 and in 2012 what a difference it makes if people feel invested — not just the big power brokers in Washington, not senators and congressmen — but everybody in this country feeling invested in who the future leader will be.”
On Tuesday, McCaskill, who endorsed then-Sen. Barack Obama over Clinton in the 2008 election, pledged her support to the super PAC known as Ready for Hillary.
