Man Who Threatened To Attack Utah Governor Sent To Prison

A man who threatened to use explosives against Utah Gov. Gary Herbert (R) last year has been sentenced to prison, the Deseret News reported Monday. Brian Biff Baker was sentenced to 58 years in prison for pleading guilty to threatening to use the explosives. 

In February 2012, Baker sent text messages regarding his plan to a friend. According to the report, one message read: “Been casing the place they going to (expletive removed) when the explosions start lol should be funny … its a dangerous mission. This cop drives by one more time im takeing him out.” Baker was near the governor’s mansion at the time. After Baker was arrested, police found ammunition, fireworks and methamphetamine in his truck, according to court records reported by the Deseret News.
