Wilmore: I Wouldn’t Be Surprised If GPS In Missouri Was Programmed For Racism (VIDEO)

After a tense week at the University of Missouri’s Columbia campus ended with the resignation of the university president, “Nightly Show” host Larry Wilmore said on Tuesday he wasn’t surprised by the racist remarks that students have repeatedly cited during their protests.

“Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. Someone’s surprised that some locals in a pick-up truck in Missouri might yell out the n-word,” Wilmore said. “Please, I would be surprised if the GPS lady wasn’t programmed to say that.”

“Which n-word are we talking about on campus? Because if the n-word we’re talking about is nincompoop, I would agree, it’s probably not warranted. I’m just kidding,” Wilmore said. “I know the word is nigger.”

But, as Wilmore pointed out, it wasn’t the racial epithets or a days-long hunger strike by a black graduate student that pushed the university to act. Action came when the football team went on strike.

“So, it was football and money that saved the day. This is such an American story,” Wilmore said. “For a university’s whose colors are black and gold, black seems to be a lot less important than gold.”

  2. Wilmore is fast becoming an institution.

  3. That last line cements his place in my heart as Jon’s heir.
