Kanye West To Perform New Music At Democratic Fundraiser

Popular rap artist Kanye West plans to perform songs from his forthcoming album, “Swish,” at an Oct. 10 fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee in San Francisco, according to report Saturday by a NBC affiliate.

West made headlines when he announced at the MTV Video Music Awards last month that he would run for President in 2020.

He also interjected himself into the political news sphere when he called Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson “brilliant.” It made some wonder what West’s party affiliation might be, particularly since he and his wife, Kim Kardashian, attended a fundraiser for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in August.

Carson said Sunday he talked to West and was impressed with his “business acumen” and discussed the potential of the rap artist doing songs about young women that give them “a sense of their value and young men a sense of responsibility.”

West’s new album does not yet have a release date.

The DNC fundraiser has been advertised as an afternoon concert and President Obama is expected to attend. Ticket prices range from $250 to $10,000 each, according to the report.
