Because of Memorial Day, “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” took the weekend off. To compensate, the show taped Sunday’s episode ahead of time and Oliver predicted the news.
“Our top stories: last week Lebron James dunked a basketball forcefully, several times in front of Miami’s largest collection of assholes,” Oliver said. “Additionally, an old rich man last week was accused of racism or sexism and while trying to explain them away only seemed more racist. I’m not sure who that was but we haven’t much from Donald Trump in a while so I’m guessing that was him.”
Oliver also predicted politics in the Middle East would remain complicated and that GM had begun recalling cars “by other companies just to even the playing field.” And on sports, the news was “it turns out the NFL has been entirely gay all this time.”
