Coming off a heavily criticized segment where he stroked Donald Trump’s hair, “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon on Monday night donned a surgical face mask to poke fun at the recent uproar over Hillary Clinton’s bout of pneumonia.
After the former secretary of state took the stage and shook hands with Fallon, he slapped on a face mask to shield his mouth and nose as Clinton laughed uproariously. When she high-fived Fallon, he pulled out a massive bottle of hand sanitizer and started pumping away to complete the bit.
“I am not contagious, just for your information,” Clinton explained, saying doctor-ordered time off the campaign trail gave her time to “reflect on this crazy race.”
A bit later, Fallon pulled out a paper bag of belongings he said Trump had left in his dressing room after his appearance on the show.
Among the gag items were a framed, heart-shaped photo of Russian President Vladimir Putin, prompting Clinton to joke their relationship is the “the most famous bromance going,” and a copy of Pink Floyd’s “The Wall.”
“That’s about as close as he’s gonna get to his wall,” Clinton riffed.
Jimmy hit it right on the head. Pneumonia-gate was a yuge, bigly, joke.
I don’t much care for Jimmy Fallon. Am I alone here?
Not alone. But I have never really cared for most of the network late-nighters. Carson and Letterman were almost always good. FWIW, these guys always have to be mindful of not alienating half of their target audience.
On the other hand, because they were on cable and could pretty much say anything (and I think they were way smarter), Stewart and Colbert were in another league completely. Since Colbert moved to The Late Show, he has intermittently tried to play both sides of the fence, but it’s really forced.
I’ve set this to record, may delete it. Poor Clinton. Has to act like she’s having a good time with this asshole during this unfunny bit…
I’m neutral, but the helpful part may be that he’s very popular with millennials.
Nice to be able to show HRC with an intelligent sense of humor, and not messed up hair.
