A component for the plagued federal health exchange website HealthCare.gov experienced another outage over the weekend due to an issue that officials blamed on Terremark, an outside contractor, the Associated Press reported Sunday.

“Today, Terremark had a network failure that is impacting a number of their clients, including healthcare.gov,” HHS spokeswoman Joanne Peters said in a statement. “Secretary Sebelius spoke with the CEO of Verizon this afternoon to discuss the situation and they committed to fixing the problem as soon as possible.”

The outage affected the federal data services hub that verifies applicant information under the law.
