One of the hosts of the Fox News show “The Five” said on Friday night that comedian Stephen Colbert owes his success to conservative news network.
The other four co-hosts of the Fox News show heaped a surprising amount of praise on Colbert after the comedian bid adieu to his acclaimed Comedy Central show “The Colbert Report” on Thursday night with a star-packed musical spectacle.
But as the website Mediaite pointed out, co-host Greg Gutfeld used the moment to take a sly shot at Colbert, whose fake conservative newsman persona has been modeled after some of the overstuffed personalities at Fox.
“He should write an eight-figure check to Fox News,” Gutfeld said, “because all of our gaffes made that man’s career.”
Colbert is planning to ditch his conservative shtick when he takes over as host of “The Late Show” on CBS next year.

It’s not your gaffes that made Colbert’s career, but the things you perfectly intended to do and say. He’s mocking you, not your mistakes.
uh, sport, it wasn’t your ‘gaffes’ colbert was using to tremendous effect…
jesus, this dolt still doesn’t get it.
Well, technically, everything that comes out of Fox is a mistake, but I see your point.
Shorter non-funny man: “Yeah, we’re horrible and really easy to make fun of. He should thank us for being such idiots!”
Not so much a mistake as a joke and I don’t mean that they are funny. I mean that they are idiots.
