Newt Gingrich kicked off his victory speech in South Carolina by thanking his supporters — and by recognizing the support of many of his family members.

The latter was perhaps a way of demonstrating that he is indeed a family man, in the wake of the accusations made by his second ex-wife Marianne that he had sought to have an open marriage when he began dating Callista, the woman who would become his third and current wife.

“Let me first of all say, thank you to everyone in South Carolina who decided to be with us in changing Washington,” said Gingrich. “Callista and I are particularly happy to have our daughters, our son-in-laws, sic our chief debate coaches [his grandchildren] Maggie and Robert who are right here. And we’re delighted to have, my sisters are here, Robbie and Susan.”
