Federal workers will not receive back pay until the end of October, leaving many employees who were furloughed as a result of the government shutdown without a paycheck for an entire month.

The government will include back pay in workers’ next paychecks, which for most is Oct. 29, according to the AP

However, federal employees left in a lurch by the shutdown have a silver lining next year. The legislation that President Obama signed last night averting default and reopening government also includes a one percent pay raise for federal employees in January — the first in three years — barring a change of heart in Congress.
