Fox contributor and Red State blogger Erick Erickson on Wednesday criticized “goofy classes” such as women’s and gender studies and what he described as “queer theory” as something only professional victims would take in college.
His comments, made on Wednesday while guest hosting “The Rush Limbaugh Show,” referenced the actions of former Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) who instituted a $10,000 Bachelor’s degree. According to Erickson, the reduced cost of the degree was attained by eliminating “goofy classes.”
“There is no reason anyone, unless they want to be a professional victim or college educator,” Erickson said, “should take a women and gender studies class or a queer theory class. There’s no reason for anybody to have to take that nonsense in college. And some colleges try to make stuff like that near mandatory.”
