Egypt’s general prosecutor on Tuesday issued eight arrest warrants tied to the anti-Muslim film blamed for recent protests in the Middle East.
The Associated Press reports that the warrants are for seven Egyptian Coptic Christians and the Florida-based American pastor Terry Jones, who has embraced the film in the wake of its quick rise to infamy. Also charged are Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the California man most closely tied to the film’s production, and Morris Sadek, a lawyer who promoted the video on his website two weeks ago.
According to the AP, “the connection of the other five accused in the case to the film was not immediately clear.”
