Stephen Colbert on Monday lampooned a right-wing conspiracy theory that claims the Obama administration is purposefully hoarding the nation’s ammunition to undermine access to ordinary, liberty-seeking Americans.
The theory, since debunked by even the National Rifle Association, inspired a congressional bill introduced by Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) and Rep. Frank Lucas (R-OK) last month that would restrict federal agencies, not including the Pentagon, from buying more ammunition during a six-month period if it currently possesses more than its monthly averages during the Bush administration.
