Alaska police on Friday raided the grounds of a self-described cannabis club owned by the former reporter Charlo Greene, who famously quit her job on-air last year to dedicate her time to advocating legalization.

Last September, Greene revealed on air that she was the head of the Alaska Cannabis Club, a group advocating for legalization of cannabis. She concluded her tenure by saying on air, “Fuck it, I quit.”

She later explained her departure as a way to dedicate “all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska.”

But on Friday, the Anchorage Police Department raided the Cannabis Club with a warrant that claimed evidence of “concealed property, namely: Marijuana, in cultivation or harvested, resins, oils, hashish or other THC derivatives, concentrates, edibles and equipment used in the extraction of THC,” according to her former television station, KTVA.

The police impounded two cars and confiscated what they said was paraphernalia. Greene denied selling any pot at the club and told the station that the location was exclusively used by those with medical marijuana cards, according to KTVA.

“This is basically a medical marijuana dispensary,” Greene told the station. “We don’t sell any recreational marijuana, we don’t sell any medical marijuana. This is a place for card holders to come and share their own cannabis.”

She told the Associated Press that she reopened the club the next day.

Greene has also come under the scrutiny of the Alaska Public Offices Commission, after the department sought documents for the cannabis club’s fundraising campaign.

  1. I can think of three reasons why they raided her club…

  2. “The police impounded two cars and confiscated what they said was paraphernalia.”

Gee, ya think they might legally have a pipe around somewhere? And what is up with the cars? Can anyone say “witch hunt?”
