Asked to expand on what he meant by his references to “the Democratic machine” he has said is behind the allegations, Cain hedged. The questioner asked if he was implying there was a conspiracy. Cain replied:
“I cannot say that it is a conspiracy. We do not have definitive factual proof. We only have coincidences to suggest it. We have not been able to make any determination to place any fingers.”
He continued:
“When we step back and see there’s no facts we can only infer that someone is trying to basically wreck my character and plant doubt in the minds of voters.”
