Business and labor leaders believe they are close to a deal on how to handle future immigrant workers, which would provide a tremendous boost to Senate efforts to draft a bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform bill.

According to the New York Times, officials at the Chamber of Comerce and AFL-CIO are close enough on issues concerning how many visas would be made available to guest workers in an immigration bill and what wages they would be paid. The White House and Senate have been encouraging the talks, hoping to bring both interest groups together in supporting a bill.
