The first social media President has conquered his final social media frontier.
President Barack Obama has done AMAs on Reddit, regularly tweets, took square photos for the White House’s Instagram account while in Alaska — and now, he’s joined Facebook.
And he welcomed the Internet by giving a tour of his backyard, aka the White House South Lawn.
“This has been my backyard for the last seven years. And it also happens to be a National Park,” Obama said in his introductory video.
He also used the video to plug the climate talks in Paris, which are set to start later this month.
“I’m kicking it off by inviting you to take a walk with me in my backyard – something I try to do at the end of the day before I head in for dinner. I say this often, but that’s because it’s always at the front of my mind: We’ve got to preserve this beautiful planet of ours for our kids and grandkids. And that means taking serious steps to address climate change once and for all,” Obama wrote in his first post.
Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg left a comment on the President’s first post, welcoming him to her platform: “Looking forward to the conversation (and the just-for-fun stuff).”
I love this guy. Voted for him twice.
But I don’t do any of that.
On the positive side, we will now have a centralized repository of all the RWNJ conspiracies for reference. His wall is gonna make a 1978 NYC subway look spotless by comparison. Wonder who gets the shit job of cleaning that thing up.
I hope the President clicked the ‘privacy’ button or in 40 years his video will be turned into a ChemLawn web ad.
