AP Withdraws Election Call In TX-23 As Candidates Flip-Flopped Leads

Tuesday night, the Associated Press called the election in Texas’ 23rd district for incumbent Republican Will Hurd. However, the AP retracted that call in the wee early hours of Wednesday morning as Democrat Gina Ortiz Jones briefly took the lead.

The race is now too close to call, with Hurd leading by a scant .3 points early Wednesday morning.

  1. This would be a nice last minute flip

  2. TX-23 is the district adjacent to mine. I wouldn’t have voted for Hurd this election cycle but his election also wouldn’t upset me because even though he is conservative, he’s a pretty thoughtful one. I’m stuck with Cruz’ ex Chief of Staff Chip Roy who is as tea party as they come and a pretty sorry hackish lackey. Fortunately, he is neutered in a Democratic House.

  3. So nice, a little good news for us El Pasoans/Texans! Will Hurd is likeable and talks a moderate game but votes with the party against his constituents so hopefully bye bye!

  4. MSNBC/NBC are calling the race for Hurd right now.
