Robert DeNiro issued a semi-apology to TPM on Tuesday after Newt Gingrich criticized his joke at an Obama fundraiser about whether the nation is “ready for a white first lady.” But according to potential white first lady Ann Romney, the line was legitimately funny.
“I laughed,” Romney told CNN’s Piers Morgan on Thursday. “You know what, I took it for what it was: a joke. And you know, again, we take everything so seriously. We have to be so correct and everyone’s got to apologize, and I can say, you know what, I can laugh at it.”
