MSNBC has bumped Rev. Al Sharpton’s weekday show to Sunday morning, according a report by The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday. According to a CNN report, Sharpton’s program struggled to compete with daily programming at other networks.
Sharpton’s “PoliticsNation” program will move to Sundays beginning Oct. 4. The hourlong program will air at 8 a.m. ET, according to the publication.
It will also move from being a weekday show to just once a week.
The program will keep its current schedule, at 6 p.m. ET during the weekdays, until Sept. 4, according to the report.
“After four terrific years – or as Reverend Sharpton said, ‘a full first term’ – PoliticsNation is ready for its next chapter,” Phil Griffin, MSNBC President wrote in a memo, according to the publication.
Sharpton also tweeted about the network’s change.
That new Politics Nation w/ Al Sharpton will premiere on my birthday weekend. I am honored with now being a Sunday Morning TV host, Great!!

I have long thought his show was a weak link for the MSNBC line up. Who are the going to put in his place?
It’s a start but I’ll wait until they get rid of him entirely before tuning in to MSNBC.
Bye, bye, Al.
this sucks… kornacki’s show is getting cut. hopefully, he’ll take over the 6p slot; esp with the elections gearing up.
This apparently means that Steve Kornacki’s “Up” either a) won’t be on Sundays anymore; or b) will be moved to 10 and Melissa Harris Perry’s Sunday show will be gone. I think Up is a welcome relief from the drivel we typically find on Sunday mornings.
