Only 26 percent of uninsured Americans have visited a health care exchange website, according to a December Gallup poll released Thursday.

Still, the December numbers show a slight uptick from 20 percent in October and November, and Gallup noted that the December poll numbers could underestimate how many people actually visited an exchange website.

Gallup also added that, according to previous polling, less than half of the uninsured seeking medical coverage said they would do so through an exchange website.

Among the uninsured Americans who did visit an exchange website, 59 percent had a negative experience and 39 percent had a positive one. In October and November, 63 percent had a negative experience, while 33 percent had a positive one.

Gallup surveyed 1,563 adults who do not have health insurance via phone Dec. 1-29 with a margin of error plus or minus three percentage points. For the 454 adults who visited an exchange website, Gallup had a margin of error plus or minus six percentage points.
