After arriving at the podium almost an hour late, President Trump on Friday announced that he was cutting the country’s ties to the World Health Organization, a new step in his ploy to shield himself from criticism of his mishandling of COVID-19 ahead of the November election.

“China raided our factories, off-shored our jobs, gutted our industries, stole our intellectual property, and violated their commitments under the World Trade Organization,” Trump ranted.

He predictably blamed China for the COVID-19 pandemic and peddled his evidence-free conspiracy theory that China “pressured” the World Health Organization (WHO) to “mislead the world” about the virus.

Then, without making any mention of the killing of George Floyd or the Minneapolis protests, Trump left the podium without taking any questions.
