The Supreme Court will hear two cases today that could dramatically broaden the President’s immunity to any form of investigative oversight, be it criminal or congressional.
Follow along with oral arguments below.
What To Expect:
- Oral arguments begin at 10 a.m. ET. and will be streamed live.
- The cases are: Trump v. Mazars USA, LLP and Trump v. Deutsche Bank AG (consolidated), and Trump v. Vance.
- In the first case, Trump sued last year to block subpoenas from three congressional panels to his longtime accountant Mazars USA LLP and two banks: Capital One and Deutsche Bank.
- That case has seen Trump pitted against the House Oversight, Financial Services, and Intelligence committees, making unprecedentedly broad arguments that Congress has almost no authority to investigate a sitting president.
- The second case could go further, however, in creating a shield of immunity around a sitting president. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance obtained a subpoena in August for President Trump’s tax returns, which the President quickly challenged, arguing that sitting presidents are immune from criminal process.
- In both cases — President Trump has used personal attorneys to argue that his financial records are immune from investigation.

These proceedings should be televised.
On Comedy Central…
Mystery Science Theater 3000
“Stare decisis” should come into play here, specifically Nixon v. United States.
But then again, we’re talking a very politicized Supreme Court, so probably not . . .
Seems to me that if the court rules in T’s favor there is no point in the Supreme Court. Or Congress.
The right wing SCers will argue that the president is too busy to be bothered with legal issues like these. Too bad Trump had time to tweet an ad for his LA golf course including its url the other day. Maybe he did that prior to this case just to show that he owned these so-called justices. Ha Ha !
If the Potted Plant had his way, he wouldn’t even allow audio. After the toilet noise last week, his hold over promoting the sacredness of the Supremes has pretty much been flushed away forever.
