With multiple networks calling the state of Michigan for former Vice President Joe Biden, the Democrat is closer than ever to vanquishing President Donald Trump to history as a one-termer.

We’re still waiting for more numbers out of Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, but securing Michigan — a crucial “Blue Wall” state that Trump won in an upset in 2016 — puts a second term nearly out of reach for the President.

That doesn’t mean the President’s campaign isn’t doing all it can to muddy the results. It has promised to file for a recount in Wisconsin, falsely declared victory in Pennsylvania and pursued legal action in Michigan, where it also sent supporters to bang on the windows of a vote-counting center on Wednesday.

  3. Hah. I thought the exact same thing when I read that.

I haven’t slept a wink. Its gonna be another long day I suspect. It may be one full of misplaced and premature recriminations and a lot of people jumping the gun to declare tRump’s superior ground game and Biden’s “weakness” if I know how the talkingheads often deal with it. The never-tRumpers may even get scared, tuck tail and go back to blaming the Dems for not doing this, that and the other thing. I don’t understand how you can blame Biden for what bad polling in some states may have shown if its so off the mark to begin with. The media uses those polls a lot and convinces the public that they are what we should depend on as an actual barometer of what the races will look like. Could it be that polls no longer reflect the people they reach out to?

I don’t know. Just frustrated and tired.

Gary Peters is running behind Mr. Nobody here right now by a couple of percentage points, but rather than worry I still say Michigan will go for Biden and Peters’ numbers will also improve when the mail in ballots are counted. It already looks like the Dems made up for the 11,000 vote deficit they had in 2016 that tRump got when some counties up in the U.P. went for Biden this time, and that’s based on the actual vote counts for in-person voting.

Also Justin Amash’s old seat has been won by the scion of the Meijer grocery chain. Another privileged white male asshole that hasn’t done anything close to what his opponent had as a public servant. But hey, he comes from money so that’s all these Republicans seem to care about.

The good news is that the Michigan Supreme Court has two Democratic candidates leading and that could flip the court to a Democratic majority I believe.

    Eh. “We’ll see what happens”.

  4. Morning, everyone. I managed to sleep a few hours, dreamed that Biden had won, and then woke up. It took all the moral courage I posses to pick up my phone and have a look.
