The Obama campaign is dipping its toes into the 2012 advertising game, with a small ad buy set to run nationally on satellite.

The buy is paying for two separate ads, both of which urge Americans to sign up to join the campaign.

“The 2012 campaign is underway, and the outcome will depend not on what I do, but on what you do,” Obama tells voters in the first ad. “It’s up to you to fight for the values we all share. Don’t sit this one out.”

“It all starts with you, making a decision to get involved–because we’ve got so much more to do,” the president says in the second ad.

Both spots ask supporters to either call a toll-free number or visit www.JoinObama.com to get involved.

A senior Obama campaign aide told CBS that the buy is intended more as a test to see if people will sign up with the campaign rather than a full-blown TV spot.
