Jon Stewart on Monday blasted political pundits who are unfazed after their boastful predictions are proved wrong. Thankfully, we’ll know soon enough who won the election. “We’ll know which pundits were wrong, which were wronger and which were, ‘Oh my God, that guy was really wrong,'” Stewart said. “But I can show you a prediction that’s wrong today. It comes via Dick Morris, king of Wrong Mountain, and it concerns accountability for pundits.”
Morris has famously predicted Mitt Romney will win, perhaps even in a landslide. But he said this week pundits could face a “reckoning” after the election results are in. Stewart disagreed.
“No, you won’t. And they won’t. Nobody will, because you’re pundits. You live in a reckoning-free zone. One thing we learned is that punditry is like musical chairs. The only difference is, in punditry, when the music stops, nobody ever moves their fucking chair. They just keep adding more chairs.”
